If you are coming to Chesterfield, be sure to visit the Shambles and the Yards. This is the oldest part of Chesterfield and is a delightful collection of old streets and yards with small local shops and, of course, the Royal Oak, one of the oldest inns in the country famous for its connection to the Knights Templar back in the 12th century.

Click here to see some of the Shambles and Yards.

But first and foremost visit the church of St Mary and All Saints – famous for its Crooked Spire
