Although the city car market has been experiencing a revolution in the past few years, new entrants to the class don’t come more revolutionary than the new stylish Renault Twingo. Apart from having five doors, it also comes with more state-of-the-art features that enable it to stand out from the crowd.
The new Renault Twingo’s engineers and designers took their time to give the car a variety of impressive exterior features. It has a stubby nose and is equipped with direction indicators, door mirror shells, body-coloured bumpers, and a glass tailgate. In addition, it has door protectors, and a rear spoiler. Its 15-inch alloy wheels are designed with pinstripe shoulder-line decals are firm and ride smoothly on any terrain. The front end features Renault’s new trademark styling, including LED daytime running lights, concealed rear door handles and a prominent Renault logo.
There is a range of vibrant colours to choose from such as crystal white, powder blue, light blue, yellow, flame red, cappuccino brown, and diamond black, meaning that you can’t fail to get your favourite colour.
The car has the comfort and convenience of a height-adjustable steering wheel, remote central locking, trip computer functions, and a speed limiter. The front and rear seats can be folded to accommodate loads measuring up to 2.30 metres. There is also an extensive range of storage options such as a removable bin at the bottom of the centre console, rear door bins, bag hooks, nets underneath the rear seat, and a large glove box.
To make sure that you are entertained while driving or relaxing in the car, there is an R-Link multimedia system with a seven-inch touch screen, DAB digital radio, and voice control. With the radio’s R&Go system, you can mount your smartphone on a cradle or on the dashboard and download the free app which you can use to control the stereo, phone, sat-nav, Internet radio and other practical features.
For maximum safety, all seats are fitted with front and side air bags and the tyres have a tyre pressure alert system to warn you in case of a puncture or insufficient pressure. In addition, the Isofix child seat attachments on the two rear seats are there to allow safe installation of child seats.
In addition to the wonderful features, there’s plenty of scope for personalisation, meaning that you can make this car reflect your individual preferences. Interior features like door cards, cabin storage, steering wheel inserts, air vent surrounds, and upholstery have customisable colours. Exterior features like side protective mouldings, door mirror shells, and decals are also customisable.
The new Renault Twingo is powered by two three-cylinder petrol engines: the brand new SCe 70 and the Energy TCe 90. The SCe 70 is a normally aspirated 999 cc engine offering up to about 70 hp and 91 Nm. The Energy TCe 90 is a turbocharged 898 cc engine with a power output of about 90 hp and a peak torque of 135 Nm. Both engines are mounted between the rear wheels and work together to give the right balance between fuel consumption and performance.
The cost of the new Renault Twingo ranges from £9,500 to £11,700. The manufacturer offers a four-year service pack for just £300. However, if you buy the car using Renault Selections Finance, you get the service pack for free.
