At last, one of the “big three” candidates has entered the online election debate - demonstrating his commitment to the people of Chesterfield. Toby Perkins, the Labour candidate, stated his policies and position on the issues of the day late last night - a brave thing to do considering at midnight on a Saturday the chance of alcohol-fuelled debate was very real.

Whether either of the two others will join in, either here or on Chesterfield Forums, is unknown. My guess is they won’t - Paul Holmes comes over as a bit arrogant and I feel that  Carolyn Abbott, the Tory candidate, is merely flying the flag for the Conservatives as a courtesy.
