I have lived in a “residents parking only” road for 25 years or more and duly pay for the privilege - and I have had to park miles from my house whenever there is a football match because the council never policed the parking restrictions.

Imagine my delight when I got home this evening, not only to find the road full of non-permit cars as usual, but also one of our new parking wardens writing out tickets for the illegally parked cars.

Lovely, lovely parking warden! Or illegal stationary vehicular enforcement operative - as they are no doubt called these days…
