Residents of Chesterfield will have an opportunity to vote for real change in the general election now that Duncan Kerr is standing for the Green Party. With over 30 year’s management experience in housing, environmental, social and community services, Duncan has both the knowledge and the passion to make a positive difference to our town.
As a people’s party the Green Party won’t bombard you with glossy brochures, Duncan and his supporters are different. They want to listen not lecture, so they will be in the market place every Saturday ready to talk face to face about the issues you raise. Isn’t that what politics is supposed to be like?
You may know the Green Party for its environmental policies, but you can find out about our policies on health, the economy and social services by visiting www.greenparty.org.uk. We strongly believe in a more equitable society with those who have done well over the last decade contributing a little more so that we can increase the minimum wage to £8.10, offer a single persons pension of £170, restore the 10p tax rate, increase child benefit, abolish tuition fees and create 1 million green jobs. You don’t believe it can be done? Maybe that’s because the other parties don’t advertise all the tax loop-holes and concessions they have created so that bankers and other high income earners are paying a lower rate of tax on their capital earnings than their cleaners do on thier wages……..and that’s just one small example.
In spite of the recession, all of the other parties still pretend that economic growth can be endless; put their hands over their ears whenever climate change is mentioned and, as for the behaviour of their MP’s…….
They will tell you that a vote for something you believe in is a wasted vote – I say, who will notice one more Labour or Lib Dem MP in Westminster? If you really want to see some positive change, be inspired and vote Green.

But what will he bring to Chesterfield?
He will hopefully bring a fresh set of ideas to Chesterfield. He will push for more jobs in the new green technologies – wind farms, insulation etc. And hopefully he will push for better public transport and cycling facilities. Looking at the Green Party manifesto they will create 700,000 new job, increase minimum wage and pensions. http://www.onlygreen.org.uk/policies/ all looks pretty good to me
